what does a voiceover cost?

Good question. Rates for voiceover vary. This is usually to do with the LENGTH and WHERE the VO is going to be used.

To simplify things, a voiceover fee involves 3 things:

1-  basic session fee (BSF): calculated according to the length of your project. My minimum BSF usually starts at £200 for scripts up to 200 words.

2- + production fee: finish / edit the audio. I include this for free in projects under 200 wrds, otherwise, my production fee is 20% of the BSF.

3- + usage license: Commercial or Broadcast usage.

Broadcast usage is paid media (TV, radio, paid online / social.) It's priced per month or full buyout and applies PER SPOT (eg per cutdown- 25/15/5 sec etc) I include a free live session is included for all broadcast orders.

Commercial usage is everything else: web videos, B2B, animations, internal videos, live events, training.

NOTE: If yours is an e-learning project or an audiobook, then no license is needed and the BSF is calculated in bands (500-1000 words, 1000-2000 words etc).

I also offer extras like:

- a live directed session via source connect or over zoom

- file splitting for e-learning modules

- time synching to your video.

  • What timezone are you in?
I'm in the UK, so GMT.
  • What payment types do you accept?
Secure credit card payments (processed through paypal, there is a small transaction fee for this method) and bank transfer.
  • How fast is your turnaround?
As long as I have all the information I need then most VOs can be turned around within 24 hours, or same day for an extra rush charge
  • Do you edit the voiceover?
Sure do. In most cases this will mean clean up (taking out mistakes etc) and breath removal. I can also time synch your audio for an additional editing fee. For more extensive edits (audiobooks etc) I have a terrific editor thatI work with to get files back to you asap.
  • Can I hear a sample of my script for free?
Absolutely, just get in touch and I can send you back a sample to get the conversation going.
  • Can you synch the voiceover to my visuals?
Sure can, for an extra 20% production fee I can fit the timing of the voice over to your slide show or animation.
  • Can I have a discount for multiple narrations?
Sure thing :) I regularly give batch discounts, just get in touch and we'll talk through your situation.
  • So which one are you... Australian? Or British?
Fair question. I'm from Australia, I grew up in Brisbane and went to Drama School in Melbourne. So with my Australian accent you're getting an authentic, educated sound straight from the source. I've lived in the UK for 11 years, so in a British accent you're getting a clear and most importantly regionless English language voice. Clients (incuding UK clients) have told me that my voice is perfect for a global audience as it is basically 'the voice of information.' The best way to find out whether either accent is right for you though, is to get in touch and I'll demo some of your script for you free of charge.
